Wireless Security Camera System pros and cons
October 16th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedThe other day something happened that was not good. I did not screw in my out door wireless security camera. I figured it was good enough just sitting their until Igot around to mounting it. After all it was functioning and who really wants to stare into a camera as their sealing stuff, but someone did manage to steal it. So I went out and got a new wireless security camera system and this time I secured the cameras to the mounts. I did, however, get a great 20 second video of my old wireless security camera system getting stolen so at least I have some memories from my first system. Let me tell you what I have learned from owning a wireless security camera system.
Wireless security camera systems are totally awesome because laying cable is not only expensive but it sucks all round. Some places it just near imposible to get the routing of the cable to look nice and those places are the best ones for a wireless security camera. I have noticed that having the wireless security camera system outdoors is much easier because of the wireless feature. The notion of digging up my yard to install cable for a security camera system does not appeal to me. I love the look of my wireless security camera system.
Watch The Birdie
Believe it or not birds used to cause havoc with my old security camera system and their partners in crime the squirrels were none to kind to it either. Birds and squirrels love to chew on security camera cable and when that happens you have to install a new cable because I am terrible at splicing. Not to mention that squirrels constantly leaping from the trees to the cables would cause the cables to snap from the cameras as well. Maybe other people do not have the same nature problems that I did but I know that nature is out to get me and that is why my security system is wireless now.
The one downside to being wireless is sometimes my system does flicker. If it rains hard or is snowing big time I notice my screen flickers every few seconds. It still records just fine and this is not really a big deal because it’s rare. The other is some devices seem to interfere with my wireless camera system as well. My neighbor has a wireless plane he flies and when he’s at it my screen flickers. I do have a wireless linksys router I use for my computer network and have no interference issues but I have heard from someone that their network interferce with the wireless signal. I am almost doubtfull about this but something to look into.
I should mention that I got my security camera off of x10.com. I like the company and have actually boughten a few things from them. My second camera being one of them
